St Andrew's Church Priorities 2010

  1. To ensure the flourishing of St@PH

  2. To launch an outreach programme in Bannerbrook Park

  3. To enhance our welcome ministry

Marc Catley will be leaving the parish at some point later this year.  He has undertaken much valuable work, not least in his role as leader of St@PH, our worship centre that meets in Park Hill School twice a month.  We have appointed a new leader: Stephen Warne, with Kirsten Shelton offering invaluable admin support.  We have great confidence in these individuals and in the future of St@PH.  It is, however, a high priority for the whole church to monitor and ensure the ongoing success of St@PH.

If this priority is about continuity, then our second is very new.  You will all be aware of the new housing development at Bannersbrook Park on the old Massey’s site.  We seek to support and encourage people on that estate in worship and Christian fellowship, while seeking ways to build Christian community with them.  We recognise that new estates often struggle to build up a sense of community and we seek to support them in that task, while ensuring that those who wish to worship the living God should find a spiritual home to do this.

Thirdly, we want to enhance our welcome ministry so that every person whatever their background or situation feels quickly part of the family.  We want to communicate more effectively the love of God and will make it a high priority to find ways to achieve this.

Ken Littlewood

Ken Littlewood
This last month, family, friends and colleagues bid farewell to Ken Littlewood. Ken had lived in the parish for nearly twenty years, latterly in Lyndhurst Croft. However, he is best remembered for the many decades he spent as a market stall holder in the city centre, only finally retiring as he approached eighty. Ken was a vital member of the National Market Traders’ Federation, negotiating leases and rents with Coventry City Council. He also worked tirelessly to raise money over many years for Coventry Lions. He will be remembered as a true gentleman and will be much missed by his wife Mercy; his children Tony and Marilyn and eight grandchildren.
